Guitar Tuition in North-West London

Hi, I’m Mark Peskett, welcome to my personal website. I am a guitarist and asipiring audio engineer and producer living in London, UK. On this site you will find everything you need to know about me and my services as a guitar tutor and engineer. If you wish to contact me my details are available on the right column.

I’m 22 years old, and have lived in NW London my whole life. I have been playing the guitar for 10 years and have been teaching privately for almost 1 year. In the summer of 2009 I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Popular Music Performance at the prestigious Tech Music Schools in Acton, London. This course covered a great deal of genres and aspects of music including business, session work, promotion, recording and production. It was the latter two areas where I discovered my interest in music production, as it fuses my interests of technology and music. After this degree I began a Masters in Record Production at Thames Valley University where I gained invaluable experience in recording and production philosophies and practices. As a research orientated course it addressed aspects such as power relationships within the studio, the use (and abuse) of new technologies, influence on culture and much more. There were also plenty of practical assignments that included me visiting the London South Bank Centre to record the resident Gamelan Orchestra, and recording solo artists and bands in more traditional studio settings, utilizing high-end recording and processing equipment. I have since decided that a career in the recording industry is what I definitely want, and I am now exploring avenues of doing so.

Outside of my vocational endevours, I am a devoted Christian and attend a small informal church a short distance from where I live. In my spare time (aside from musical things), I enjoy reading various factual material on technology, psychology and physics, and also casual socialising with friends down the local pub over cider. I am not currently in a band, although I will pursue this when time allows. I of course enjoy listening to music regularly, and I am unusually selective about what I listen to. I grew up listening to Britpop with bands like Oasis, The Verve, Coldplay, Doves and I somehow ended up becoming interested in progressive genres such as Prog-Trance (Above & Beyond) and my favourite bands in Prog-Metal such as Meshuggah, Tesseract, Periphery, Textures and many more. My primary interest is in working with metal bands, but I am happy to be recording and working with any musical style.
